Privacy Policy for Lyqd

This Privacy Policy describes how Lyqd ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). Lyqd is a currency converter app that allows you to scan prices using your device's camera and convert amounts between currencies.

            Lyqd is designed with privacy in mind and does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to external servers.
        

1. Information We Access

Camera Access

Lyqd requests access to your device's camera to enable the real-time text recognition (OCR) feature. This allows you to scan price tags and convert currency amounts instantly.

Important: All camera processing happens locally on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework. Images and video captured by the camera are:

Processed entirely on your device
Never stored permanently
Never transmitted to our servers or any third party

You can revoke camera access at any time through your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.

Local Storage

Lyqd stores the following preferences locally on your device only:

Selected currency pair (base and target currencies)
Bank fee percentage setting
Manual exchange rate override (if configured)
Shopping list items and categories

This data is stored using iOS's built-in UserDefaults and local file storage. It never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

2. Third-Party Services

Frankfurter API (Exchange Rates)

Lyqd retrieves live exchange rate data from the Frankfurter API, an open-source exchange rate service. When fetching rates, the following information is transmitted:

Your selected currency pair (e.g., "USD to SGD")

No personal information is transmitted. The Frankfurter API does not require authentication and does not collect user data. For more information, visit: https://www.frankfurter.app/

Apple Frameworks

Lyqd uses the following Apple frameworks that process data entirely on your device:

ARKit – For camera access and augmented reality features
Vision – For on-device text recognition (OCR)
SceneKit – For 3D rendering

These frameworks do not transmit any data to Apple or third parties.

3. Data We Do Not Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics or tracking data
Photos or images from your camera
Account or login information

4. Children's Privacy

Lyqd does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect personal data from any users, this app is safe for use by individuals of all ages.

5. Data Retention

Since Lyqd does not collect or transmit personal data to external servers, there is no data retention policy applicable to our servers.

Your locally stored preferences (currency settings, shopping lists) remain on your device until you uninstall the app or manually delete the data.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data. Since Lyqd does not collect personal data, these rights do not apply. However, you can:

Control camera access – Enable or disable camera permissions in your device settings
Delete local data – Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored preferences

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
